Sylvia is patient-focused professional with a strong medical background and education. She has a keen insight into the needs and views of others; able to listen and identify issues or problem areas, form innovative solutions and communicate them to those in need and to those that can provide the solutions. 

Sylvia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1994 after practicing as an RN for the last 30 years, working in Community Health, Hospital Liaison and even as an ECG Technician.   

Currently Sylvia is very involved in her community providing; Patient Support at the Vancouver Centre for Integrated Healing; Instructing at the Lion’s Gate Breast Self-Examination Clinic and being Vice-Chair of the Artaban Society Board of Directors.  Sylvia has also been involved as Chairperson for the Anglican Church Hospice Unit and been a member of the BC Bereavement Foundation, BC Hospice/Palliative Care Association and the BC Registered Nurses Association. 

Sylvia has spent a great deal of her professional career working with Elders by providing the basics of care that only a nurse can provide and in addition has provided solutions and innovations to help Elders cope in an ever changing environment.  Sylvia is considered to be a strong contributor and presenter in the area of; Hospice & Palliative Care; Program Management/Assessment for Seniors; Counseling; Communication and Facilitation; Community Relations; Family Relations & Dynamics and teaching of Life-Skills. 

Sylvia has the insight and knowledge to deal with Elders and understands the administrative minefield of government health care.  This information along with her very effective communication skills will help all EPC’s understand, appreciate and help the elders address their needs, concerns and confusions.
